This one took a while, not because it was complicated or anything, it was just one of those things you put down and never come back to. Anyway, it's finished now and it was made like a set piece. In other words there is sod all on the other two sides of the house, not really neaded when you only plan to take a picture from one side, plus the tiles were individually stuck on and were driving me nuts. It's made of foam board and balsa wood with a wire tree. I do plan on taking more professional pics with some homemade dry ice, so for now here are some pics of my spooky disused house.

showing off
I like to think of myself as a very modest person, but I am proud to say that my work has been on show at an animation festivals (Stoke your fires) two years running as well as two graduation shows (i still am not sure why). here are just a few pictures of my work on show.
this is pipa (yellow figure) on display with others from Blue Sky's Robots at Stoke your fires. she later featured at Staffordshire university graduation show (one year before I actually graduated)
these two are from a steam punk animation that I made with May Jowdh and Richard Ackland. the top picture is my main character and the other is one of the background characters i made, you may have noticed that it is based on count dooku from star wars clone wars ( and when i say based on.....).
this is steam boy (as well as my steam powered robot), he was a background character from steam pub.
this shows some of the small detail of the house set for money tree.
and this is the set in its entirety.
finally this is the woodland set.

this is a picture from my graduation show. i made the maquette of the dog that featured in the money tree. the replacement puppets were made by May Jowdh.
again from the money tree these are the badger bailiffs that i made from foam latex. i animated the one on the right and Tom Grainger animated the one on the left.this is steam boy (as well as my steam powered robot), he was a background character from steam pub.

no new work
it's been a while since my last post and i really haven't done much in the way of sculpting mostly because of my new job. however i thought i would put up some pictures of some older work that has yet to be shown.
this was my first attempt at pumpkin carving of an abc robot.
this is the small set for one of my animations, these are just light tests but it is still one of my favorite sets that i have made. It is made of foam board that i cut and bent into a tunnel, i then coated the walls in pva glue and sand and the floor is made from pva mixed with shards of plaster then coated in water effect.
this is a stop motion puppet that i made of a victorian soldier. the skull (pictured left) has a hinged jaw that could be move using a bolt that resides in the center of the skull. i used an allen key to move it and i hid the hole in the head with his hair. his face was made of a thin skin of latex (pictured below).
this is the sculpt for my two-face costume. I first sculpted a rough likeness of myself (left), i then started the final sculpt. this was the first sculpt that I didn't use references for as i had an idea of what I wanted it to look like.
this is a commission sculpt that i did for a young graphic artist, it is based on his comic book character Brocolli Man. he had a rough idea of what he wanted with it and gave me a quick drawing but i was given quite a bit of artistic license. as you can see he was pretty happy with it and it took about ten minutes until he stopped swearing.
thanks for looking

hello again.
i haven't done much recently as i have been searching for a job and with christmas present searching. however i have managed to sculpt a few things so here they are.
first off i apologize for the background of this picture, like all my work this is made from super sculpey. the reason i made this that i was watching finding nemo and it came to my favorite scene, so i thought that i should make it. it took 1 day to make marlin and 2 days for dory.

i made parsley the lion for my girlfriend as part of her christmas presents, it didn't take too long as it's only small but i am quite happy with the detailing.
if you have any questions about sculpting please leave a comment and i will reply as best i can.
cheers

CLONE WARS WICKET
once I was happy with the design i got my materials and started sculpting the face, this took the best part of 5 hours. I used super sculpey with metal ball bearings for eyes. I attached each clump of hair individually. once that was done I made the rest of the head in the same way. when everything was cooked i used green stuff to add some finer detail on his hood, fur on the ears and to fill in some of the gap on the face.
when everything had set i painted it using games workshop acrylics. from start to finish this took 15 hours and is roughly 3 inches tall (not including base pictured below).
